This is the entire staff which included week of hope which does service projects and has around 100 campers and they stay in one location for the summer. I am doing workcamps and we do labor such as painting, building, and fixing things with around 300-400 participants!!!
So this has been my final week of training and it has
absolutely flown by!!! I’ve met even
more new people then I had last week! On
Wednesday my friend Kat and I decided to go for a walk around the lake right
behind the school we were staying at, at sunrise. We were walking when we came across this
sign!!! Apparently elk are not very nice
haha!!!
It's kind of hard to read, but it says DO NOT ENTER, TRAIL CLOSED, PROTECTIVE MAMA ELK!
On Thursday and Friday we met
our MC’s who will be doing our camps. I
only got to meet 2 out of the 3, but they are fantastic!!! I also met one of my directors and he seems like
he is going to be doing a lot of pranks on me!
I am really excited to work with all of them. This is the truck that we will
be riding in for the summer!!
This is the truck we will be driving all summer long!
This is my staff that I’m working with for
the summer.
This is my crew Karen, Tyrus, Chris, Me, and Melissa
We tried another ice cream place...it was very good!!!
On Friday we met with our
Project Leader, they are the ones who find places for us and the campers to
stay and they are the ones that put all of that together for us. We found out tons of information about our
camp!!! For our first camp we may be
staying at a house on the beach for a few nights at no expense!!! The people sponsoring our camp are going to
be throwing us a huge dinner and apparently there is going to be lobster and
everything (too bad I don’t eat lobster!!!).
There are going to be dozens of volunteers to help us with our first
camp and we will have about 430 participants for this camp. Our 2nd and 3rd camps
in West Virginia are going to be interesting to say the least, so I will just
wait to see how those turn out! On Friday night we also had a commissioning and
we finally got our red shirts!!! It was
very exciting, apparently a lot of people usually get let go during training
(last year I think there were 4 or 5) and there was only one and they were let
go Friday morning. I’m so excited to
have made it, but it’s bittersweet because we will be leaving on Sunday and I
am going to miss all the friends that I have made.
We are officially STAFF!!!
On Friday night we went and hung out in downtown
Estes Park. They have the cutest shops
and restaurants there! We got ice from
Laura’s which was great. Then we went to
grandma’s cookies and she asked us to watch her store while she moved her
car. We had never even met her
before!!! So we did and she was super
sweet and talked our ears off for like 20 minutes but we loved it! Then she gave us all hugs before we
left. We hung out downtown for a while and then we came back
and watched the bachelorette!!! Hahaha I was happy!!! Also, we are starting to get very sick of the food, so we have been eating at McDonald's a lot!
On Saturday morning I went and got my first chi tea latte...it was sooo good!!!
I tried my first chi tea on Saturday....it was awesome it tastes like pumpkin pie in a cup
Then we went and loaded our
trucks so they are all ready for us to go!!! Even though training was really hard and very tiring I have made some wonderful friends, and I love all my office managers so much and I know I will keep in contact with them!!!
These are the office managers I trained with! I love them all so much and I am so glad that I met every single one of them :)
